About Sankore Institute
A Mali-based research, advisory and support firm with more than five years of experience.
Who we are
Sankore Institute (SI) is a Mali-based research, advisory and support firm specialising in applied research, the design and delivery of development projects, and the production and use of knowledge. The Institute works primarily in public policy, governance, local development, strategic communication, research and capacity strengthening.
With more than five years of experience, it supports public institutions, local authorities, civil-society organisations, NGOs, international agencies and technical and financial partners in the design, planning, delivery and evaluation of development policies and programmes.
The multidisciplinary team brings together national and international experts with several decades of combined experience. Their previous professional backgrounds include work with USAID, UNDP, the Royal Danish Embassy (Danida), Swedish cooperation (Sida), the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and other international organisations. These individual experiences complement assignments delivered directly by Sankore Institute; they are not all contractual references of the firm. The Institute provides technical assistance and solutions adapted to local realities and development partners’ requirements.

What types of organisations does Sankore Institute support?
We support governments, local authorities, United Nations agencies, technical and financial partners, civil-society organisations, NGOs, public institutions and the private sector in the design, planning, delivery and evaluation of projects and public policies.
In which countries do you work?
Sankore Institute works in several countries, including Mali, the Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Congo-Brazzaville and Gabon. From Bamako, the Institute can mobilise its expertise worldwide, according to its partners’ needs and contexts.
What are your main areas of expertise?
Our work covers governance, decentralisation, territorial development, monitoring and evaluation (MEAL), studies and research, digital transformation, geographic information systems (GIS), gender and social inclusion, peacebuilding, local economic development, the environment and climate change.
